Comprehensive ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis), it refers to a treatment approach that addresses multiple developmental domains affected by autism and tailored to each individual. It considers cognitive, communicative, social, emotional, and adaptive functioning. Maladaptive behaviors, such as tantrums, noncompliance, aggression, self-injuries behaviors, are targetd for improvement and replaced with functionally equivalent appropriate behaviors.
Early intervention for autism plays a crucial role in giving children the best chance for optimal development and long-term improvement. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) impacts a child’s social, communication, and behavioral abilities, and signs can often be detected before the age of three. Early intervention not only addresses the core challenges associated with autism but also fosters the acquisition of essential skills crucial for a child’s future success. By intervening early, children with autism can access targeted treatments like Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) during a critical stage of their development.
Some clients naturally need less support than others and we also understand the importance of balancing school with therapy, so we offer sessions from noon to afternoon to meet those needs while target social skill development.
Social skills program, uses effective strategies and structured approaches that can significantly enhance children's social competence. The program is designed specifically for children with high-functioning autism, consisting in four critical areas of social skills: fundamental skills, social initiation skills, getting along with others, and social response skills. Additionally, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques, such as breaking down skills, using prompts (verbal, visual, and gestural), rewarding desired behaviors, and generalizing skills across different settings, play a crucial role in promoting successful social interactions and overall well-being
We have two offices full of toys, games, and activities. Therapists focus heavily on pairing (building a positive rapport) with clients and making sure that therapy is a place they enjoy and want to come back to. We then focus on ensuring clients can communicate their wants and needs, respond to instructions, and participate in group activities.
Our in-home sessions focus on transferring instructional control from us to you (the parents)! We can practice skills in our controlled office setting all day, but at the end of the day they need to be able to transfer to your home and daily, sometimes unpredictable, life. During in-home we can target: reducing challenging behaviors, improving daily life skills, increasing communication, and more.
Our therapists are available to do classroom observations, accompany you to ARD meetings, collaborating with teachers and administrators to create a Behavior Intervention Plan, and more.
Parent training is a vital part of what we do at Stepping Stone. If parents aren't fully committed and involved to the best of their abilities, what we're doing in the office most likely won't generalize into the home and community environments. We are a team and are here to give you the tools you need to successfully go about your lives as a family.
